Hare Krsna dear Hanuman Prabhu,
I have watched many of your Youtube videos and it is so inspiring to see a devotee speaking the truth and making us aware of so many things (with a great sense of humour). I am looking forward to your video on book changes as that is one of those things talked about a lot on the internet but I don’t know what to think about it. I got your email address from one of your comments in your videos (in case you are wondering).
I have whole website, http://lastingimpression.info/
And you can also find me on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hanuman.das.3766
I wanted to ask you about two personalities in ISKCON for my own personal clarification since I feel you are a devotee who understands Srila Prabhupada very well and are not afraid in speaking the truth:
1) Regarding Aindra Prabhu, he has said many times “To hell with varnasrama”, but actually we understand from Srila Prabhupada that he wanted to establish varnasrama. (Quoting from one of his articles - “But I say, To hell with varnasrama-dharma! There’s no time for cultivating varnasrama-dharma. People who think that there is time for cultivating varnasrama-dharma simply have not understood the philosophy of Krishna consciousness.”
But devotees all around the world praise Aindra prabhu so much like he was an Uttama Adhikari, He always talked about pure devotional service, etc. What should we think of him? Was he really so elevated as people make him out to be? What is your view?
I would stick with Prabhupada’s version, varna asrama is for those who are ready to live simply and reject to follow the rules of so called modern civilisation which most often makes you work like ass.
Many people disagree with Prabhupada directly or indirectly on various topics, that is their problem really.
I don’t care who “devotees all around the world” are praising, all I care about is what are Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. And those who follow Srila Prabhupada 100%, they are genuine disciples of Srila Prabhupada and qualified to become gurus. Such people get my admiration and respect. There are not so many of them.
I haven’t studied Aindra prabhu much, from what I can say from my distant outlook on him, he looked like sincere person who lived austere life and was dedicated to the Holly Name. He was not fallen sannyasi with a girlfriend like Sacinandana Swami or follower of Ramesh baba gopi disco dance nonsense. Therefore I respect him.
As far as his outlook on varna asrama is concerned, you need to provide quotes or youtube links so that I can see the context. If he really said “To hell with varna-asrama”, that is attitude I would not support.
2) Regarding Radhanath Swami. There is so much “bad” stuff about him on the internet that I just don’t know what to believe. You said in one of your comments that since he is so senior we should respect him. But even in his book, there is so much glorification of sahajayas and is not really a book that if one reads they will understand they are supposed to surrender to Krishna. And so many other deviations… There is even a video about him, I don’t know if you are aware of it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T47RjGD055U) where those people in the video are claiming he hijacked their property and threw them out. Also, apparently his disciples push new devotees to take initiation from him, in the sense that I know a couple, they told me when they were fairly new to ISKCON, at their local temple, the disciples (who were in charge of the temple) there asked them if they would like to take initiation from Radhanath Swami. And that couple didn’t even know much about RS and weren’t even chanting 16 rounds but thought it is appropriate to say yes, and when RS came to that temple, they were given initiation. So I asked them that have you ever spoken to RS or interacted in any form? They said No, his disciples told us “we shouldn’t waste Maharaj’s time”(This was a few years ago, before the Disciple course was made compulsory). So what should we think of him? Apart from the apparent deviations in his approach, are all these things on the internet about him true and he’s not good?
Radhanath Swami is nonsense, his book Journey Home is betrayal of Srila Prabhupada and everything Srila Prabhupada fought for. This is not some “internet rumor”, this is a fact. Everybody can buy this book and read it.
Radhanath Swami’s connection with his “lifelong friend Ramesh baba” as he describes him in his book is proof that he doesn’t have a clue what it means to be a devotee of the Lord and what is means to be sahajiya who organises gopi disco dance nonsense.
Please see following videos for reference:
Radhanath Swami directly disobeys Srila Prabhupada on Ramesh baba issue, and his whole preaching style is new-age mayavada nonsense, just look at his facebook wall and tell me if you see anything which remotely reminds you of Srila Prabhupada. This video can give you head start:
On the hospital issue, Prabhupada says:
The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is teaching all over the world this philosophy, that your first and foremost business is to become Kṛṣṇa conscious. There is no question of so-called economic development, sense gratification. No. These are not important things. There are many missionaries, they open hospitals or similar philanthropic activities, BUT WE NEVER DO THAT. So many friends advised me to open some hospitals, dispensaries. Oh, I flatly said that “WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE HOSPITALS.” There are so many hospitals. So people who are interested in hospitals, they can go there. Here is spiritual hospital. The disease is the other hospitals, they cannot stop death, but our hospital can stop death. (Lecture on CC Adi-lila 1.15 – Dallas, March 4, 1975)
Therefore the so-called good men of this world, who are engaged in so many welfare activities, humanitarian activities, by mental concoction, they may be all foolish activities in the estimation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They are very much puffed up, that “We are doing this, opening hospital and school, and philanthropism, nationalism.” Is there any such thing in the Bhagavad-gītā? Is there any advice that “You open hospital, school and do this philanthropic work”? No. (BG Lecture, London August 3, 1973)
If you take initiation from Radhanath Swami, he might engage you into collecting funds for building hospitals or organising eye camps. For the rest of your life, you will have to believe that this is your “devotional service” for Krishna and in such a way, your hopes for going back to Godhead will be zero.
Read Srila Prabhupada’s books carefully, and associate only with people who made Srila Prabhupada’s instructions their life and soul, and avoid others.
Don’t become sheep who worships nonsense people because somebody told them so.
Your servant, Hanuman das
